What Nathan builds

Master carpentry, construction, and custom timber work.

Granny flats are the specialty. Carpentry is the trade behind it. Born to Build covers everything timber, framed, and fitted-out across the Central Coast and Northern Beaches. One builder, owner-operated, never sub-contracted.

Full capability list

Six categories. One builder. Hand-built finish on every job.

Each category links to the part of Born to Build that goes deeper. If your job spans more than one, that is exactly the point. Nathan keeps the trade work in-house so the finish does not get lost in the handover between sub-contractors.

04 — Carpentry, joinery, and fit-outs

The detail work, kept in-house.

Internal joinery, kitchens, custom storage, feature timber walls, stairs, balustrades, doors, internal trim. The detail work most builders sub out, Nathan keeps in-house. Because that's where the finish is won or lost.

  • Hand-built kitchens and joinery to spec
  • Hardwood and engineered timber stairs
  • Internal trim, skirting, architraves, cornices

Got plans already?

Pre-approved plans? Bring them through.

If you already have CDC- or DA-approved drawings from a designer or another builder, Nathan's happy to quote and build straight from your spec. No requirement to go through the Born to Build design pathway. Same fixed-scope quote, same owner-operated build, same full warranty. Hand over the drawings, he handles the rest.

Equally happy to start fresh if you don't have plans yet. Either path lands on the same finish.

FAQs

The questions Nathan gets every week.

Yes. Nathan holds NSW Builders Licence 362701C personally, not just the company. Every job is covered under the NSW Home Building Compensation Fund, which protects you if anything happens to the builder mid-project. ABN 67 654 664 838. Public liability and contract works insurance are in place before a single nail goes in. Happy to send copies before you sign.

Statutory NSW warranty: six years on major defects (structural, waterproofing, fire safety) and two years on everything else. On top of that you get a six-month walkthrough at handover where Nathan personally fixes any niggles. The warranty is backed by Nathan's licence, not just a company name, which means it can't disappear if a director changes.

Absolutely. If you already have CDC- or DA-approved drawings, Nathan's happy to build straight from your spec. Send the plans through, he'll review, quote a fixed scope, and start the build once the contract's signed. Same warranty, same finish, same owner-operated build. No requirement to go through Born to Build's design pathway.

From the Central Coast down to Sydney's Northern Beaches: Gosford through to Manly, Palm Beach, and beyond. Plus the Upper North Shore on selected jobs. If you're outside that area, ask anyway, but realistically a local builder will serve you better.

Yes, where there's room in the diary. A new deck, a kitchen renovation, a custom shed, a heritage timber repair. The 2027 diary is heavy with granny flat builds, so smaller jobs slot around them. Best path: send the brief, Nathan will tell you honestly whether it fits the schedule and the scope.

Fair question. The honest answer is the track record: Nathan has been on the tools over a decade and the diary is currently booked through 2027 on referrals alone. Builders who don't finish jobs don't get repeat customers, and they don't get word-of-mouth. Add to that the progress-payment structure (you only pay for work that's done) and the Home Building Compensation Fund cover (which actually pays out if a NSW builder bails), and you're protected on every front. Visit a current site, talk to past clients: just ask.
